At age 13 Ryan Sheckler became the youngest person to go pro in the skateboarding world. But while he enjoys his successful and lucrative career, Ryan also wants to enjoy the life of a normal teenager. Accompanied by best friends Casey, Tony, and Taylor, he spends his time at home surfing, hanging out, and looking for a Winter Formal date.

Complicating his matters even more is his hectic skateboarding schedule which requires him to travel a lot, which keeps him away from his friends, and his younger brothers Shane and Kane. And to make things even worse, Ryan can’t seem to find a girl who won’t care that he is a professional skateboarder and is gone most of the time.

Ryan also has to cope and deal with the recent separation of his mom Gretchen and father Randy. Ryan’s mom Gretchen tries to find a way to move on with her life, while balancing a mother figure to her chilren and as acting as Ryan’s manager.

However, despite these complications surrounding Ryan, he seems to find a way to look at the more positive side of things. Even though Life of Ryan portrays the usual drama and materialism as other MTV reality shows, it also features positive messages that the other shows don’t have. In the end, this show is about a talented and sensitive celebrity teen who works for the luxuries he enjoys while finding strength in the people he cares about most - not the things that surround him.
